Plan and section for an ideal municipal marketplace. Four U-shaped structures are joined with curving wings and are centered on a monumental fountain. Eight streets radiate from the marketplace, four of them ending at semi-circular fountains. An explanation states that the design is for the "halles" of a major city. An indication of directions (with a northwest orientation) was added later with the evident intention of recommending the plan for a specific city.
